Kasha's Moving In On Germany
Written by Phatriff on Thu, 24/04/2008 - 11:58pm in News review sting operation uk
Here is a press cutting from Juice Magazine Over in Germany. The Review is of the Sting Operation which was an Album Kasha featured on last Year. It is a translation from German so the grammar is rough and I have highlighted the most important part for you. During the Boom of the last years, first Grime and then Dupstep, the English Hip Hop scene fell back without its own fault. A talented exception such as Roots Manuva, which shines over everything, won’t be discovered every year. It’s now all depending on Beezwax, a producer from Paris who lived in London for years, to improve the situation. An intention that sounds very convincing with his ‘Sting Operation’. I haven’t heard any Hip Hop albums produced in England during the last years that set such an accent production wise. You don’t even have to use the hit example ‘Everything or Nuthin’, with its will-o-the-wisp string sounds, still ringing in my ears, to underline this statement. You can even use Bangers set closer to earth’s orbit such as ‘Heaven and Hell’ with its dead proof hook line. Instead of famous names Beezwax counts mostly on unused names for the Rap parts on ‘Sting operation’ such as Geneesis Elijah, Kasha, Darkus, Kyza, Taurus, Styla or Skribla Dangogh from Terrafirma. To the lots of unforgettable high points of the album you have to count in for sure ‘What’s Poppin’, inspired by the very famous Eurhythmic classic as well as ‘Jojo’s’ which is differently more spiced up at the lower bass parts and where Sick Sense Crew leaves its lyrical foot steps. Also absolutely fantastic sounds the down tempo number ‘On Guard’ refined with its dark piano sounds. There is even, for example ‘Black Clouds’, where sound engineering wise has been worked with relative simple tools you stay in the quarter top of quality. Very successful is also the addition from Klashnekoff, who showed his class on the track with powerful strings laid out song ‘All I got refixed’. It's all looking good over in Deutschland.Tag Cloud
