The Wake Up
I take time, blind when i’m writing a line, they scream warrior dead or alive, I wonder if they realise I was raised in a war, what’s the fight? For the poor raw lost child,
said it before, but I’m feeling like your missing pieces, morning mist brings a peace, yellow leaves, feel the humble where the smoke of trees is. Guys is illing, lights and these high rise buildings, worried faces, the struggle faced is the paper chase.
As the sun sets orange and pink I picture heaven, wonder if me and nanny will link,
though we wish for it seems there will never be change, I dream of change so much even they be staying the same, some are in the fast but still can’t stay in their lane
Wonder why she a brass when from gold she made? Some will bring a little sunshine on wintery days only to die up in the rain then reincarnate.
So take your time little soldier it be all in the step, dear little lady hold on to your self respect. Told em I bill it with the spirits I sit above the world high up In the galaxy, poems and vision. Sardines in a can again singing fuck the management headed towards another days work, I can’t handle it, we scramble just to live a life amongst these scavengers, savages, with streets dreams of platinum rings to put the carrots in.
Used to push a Ford, they called him Harrison, now he in a 2 door Benz, ain’t going back again, they come and go these so called friends, never been one to fall for no false pretence. They feel me, they feel the force, seeing shit through my Jedi again, they say he gifted with this shit, I just get the spliff lit and zone getting lifted, loving something that Riff did, lay it on a Saturday morn, still drifting.
Forever the perfect sky is torn, hope they listen when I tell them it’s their oyster, it’s yours! United we stand together for the cause, of course some don’t get it, their eyes have never seen the beast but don’t sweat it. I write a letter to my peeps like, dear brother, dear sister, in the dark you’re my street light. Let me recite something deep like my people needed this like African plains needed rain we all up in the chains.
Lessons and lessons learned, blessing earned, stressing, and they say I’m partly a ghost, I keep rapping rapeeed, certain parts I have to repeat, because my heart they can’t take as a joke. Focus my chi, the right balance of calm and adrenaline, body laced with melanin, so life’s hard, I fling some life bars, I peep and see them in their fly cars, and realise that their life ain’t like ours, it’s real life bounce, I got the bounce, you know I got it in a large amount, I got the vibe, I got my soul right, so let me show you bout living this life….. (repeat)
Welcome....
